In connection with the International Days of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, we will spend the 2 weeks surrounding November 1 & 8 praying for the 10 nations where Christians face the worst persecution. Check back each weekday from October 26 through November 6 for a post focusing our prayer on a particular nation, and consider making prayer for the persecuted church a regular part of your personal worship. “Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.” (Hebrews 13:3)

#2 – Somalia

Christians: hundreds (< 1%)
Persecution Level: Extreme
Persecution Source: Islamic extremism / tribal antagonism
Other Information: Christians face intense persecution from Islamic clans and terrorists, as well as from the government, which supports Sunni Islam as the official religion and does not allow religious liberty.

Prayer Points:

  • For the small number of Christians who have come to Jesus from the Islamic faith
  • For restoration of a functioning government which will give freedom to all faiths
  • An end to the civil war, famine and drought which has plagued the nation since 1991
