Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve… (Mark 10:45)

… through love serve one another. (Galatians 5:13)

do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4)

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)

Pray today that we would be a church of servants. Pray that none of us would seek to make the church an avenue to meet our own needs, but rather an avenue through which we can meet the needs of others. Pray that we would not be driven by our own interests, but by the interests of others. Pray that we would use our gifts, talents, resources, time, money, etc. to serve one another and our community. Pray that we would follow the example of Jesus in serving others.
