praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ (Colossians 4:3)

Paul asks the Colossian church to pray that he would have opportunity to witness. He prays for a door “that allows the word of God into the hearts, minds and lives of individuals and communities” (N. T. Wright).

Pray today that God would open up to us a door through which the gospel will penetrate the hearts, minds and lives of our community and the individuals in it. Pray that we would have opportunities to share the gospel—in word and in deed—with both individuals and the community as a whole. Pray that as individuals and a church, we would recognize these opportunities and take advantage of them. Pray that the eyes and ears of our hearts would be sensitive to others, that we would see and meet their needs, and that when the door of opportunity opens, that we would recognize it and walk through it.
